Worship at St. Peter’s is made richer with good music. Under the direction of Michael Miller, we enjoy a full choir of parishioners and choral scholars who sing at the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service and other special liturgies during the year. The St. Peter’s Choristers, a youth choir for children in grades two through five, sing occasionally with the adult choir at the 10:00 a.m. service.
The St. Peter’s Adult Choir meets for rehearsals on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and is open to all members of St. Peter’s Church. They work hard, enjoy one another, and make a beautiful noise to the Lord!
The St. Peter’s Choristers usually rehearse on Sunday mornings at 11:45 a.m.. This group is in a re-building phase, so new voices are especially welcome. The Choristers program for children provides an excellent beginning in the art of song. What children learn as Choristers will enrich their entire future musical and worship life.
The choirs are accompanied by a majestic Holtkamp pipe organ. We concentrate our musical efforts on the traditional repertoire of the Anglican communion. However, we often enjoy enriching our Sunday offerings with music from other traditions and cultures. We are especially keen to deploy the musical gifts of parishioners, particularly young ones, who play an instrument.
However, whether or not you can sing or play, all are invited to join their hearts and voices in praise. If the best you can do is hum, then hum away! If even humming is a challenge, then pray along quietly with the song texts. God will hear you, and take pleasure!
